Houseplant by OCB paper is made in a 100 year old, family-owned paper mill on the banks of Lake Geneva in the French Alps. OCB uses only high quality, sustainably harvested fibers like bamboo, real rice, organic hemp, flax, and wood. We endeavor to souce our fibers within 500km of the paper mill from places like Champagne (organic hemp) and the protected wetlands of Camargue (rice).
Our biodegradable packaging is printed with vegetable inks and engineered to be as compact as possible to eliminate paper waste.
Every Houseplant by OCB booklet and cone sold in the US is made with proprietary blend of natural Acacia gum that is responsibly harvested from the Sahel region of Africa.
Over the years, the paper mill has implemented advanced sustainability practices to reduce the impact on the environment. The water treatment facility removes solids from the wastewater before cleaning it for safe return to the local waterways. Investments in an on-site biomass boiler, coupled with a partnership with the city’s biomass boiler, reduce carbon emissions.

In 1822, brothers René and Guillaume Bolloré built a paper mill next to the Odet River. This location was perfect – when you’re making paper, it’s necessary to have clean, fresh water nearby.
As the business grew, the family expanded operations into a more modern facility in Cascadec in 1893. The OCB brand was born in 1918.
Our name pays homage to the Odet River, the Cascadec mill, and the Bolloré family origins in the Brittany region of France.
Our paper and our booklets are still made in France, in our family-owned facilities. Today, our family-owned paper mill, which celebrated its 100th birthday in 2022, sits on Lake Geneva in the foothills of the French Alps.
